Events conspired against me this week and ParkRun was not a possibility. So I ran on my own (which isn't at all unusual for me). Well, me and a bunch of zombies. I set zombie chases to "on" (twice per hour) and both of those chases came in the first 5 minutes! But I managed to outrun the horde and escape the mind control, too...not a lot of people can say that before 9am on a Saturday. Now I just have time for breakfast, coffee (yum!) and a quick shower before becoming "football mum" for a few hours... Distance: 3.3 miles
Time: 36' 00" Average pace: 10' 54" Fastest mile: 10' 49" Type of run: Zombies, Run! (Easy run but with chases set to 2 x per hour) Cardio fitness score: 40

I managed to sleep until 6.47am this morning, an improvement on 5-something yesterday (my alarm goes off at 6am in the week).
Practically a lie-in. Up at 7 to walk the doggo and to my dismay it was frosty/icy again. Luckily, a quick trek down the byway showed it wasn't frozen solid like it has been for the past couple of weeks. Coffee. Bran flakes. Then I was off. Loathe to cough up £5.50 for parking, I parked just out of town and ran/walked the three quarters of a mile to Sweatshop, and arrived feeling spritely. Memo to self: leave 10 minutes later next week to avoid hanging around. Having done a pacy Parkrun yesterday, I had already decided to keep a sensible pace and once we (finally) set off, I found myself running with someone whose name I still don't know! He and I stayed together pretty much the whole way, and I managed to run up the "big hill" on the route that I walked 2 weeks ago. "Zombies, Run!" kept me going when the going got tough; 2 degrees and raining isn't the nicest weather when you're sweating under your clothes and getting wet from the outside. Still, I made it and in a not-too-shabby time. My hamstrings are sore, but otherwise I'm feeling pretty good, sitting eating a bacon and cheese butty and glugging a coffee! https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Marathon-for-Archie Distance: 7.92 miles Time: 1:24:24 Average pace: 10:38 Fastest mile: 10:23 Type of run: Long Cardio fitness score: 40 I've managed to get on top of my insomnia lately - until last night. After a dream involving needing to find a power adaptor for my step mum, I woke up and my brain started going through everything I need to get done. That was at 1.30am.
I tried pretty much everything - meditation, reading, listening to white noise...I eventually fell asleep at 5am. My alarm went off at 6am. A dog walk, a bowl of cereal and a cup of coffee later and I was out on the school run. Just need to last until Friday and no more school runs until next year! I spent some time organising the diary for the remainder of 2016, which made me realise just how close the end of the year is! I also got some of the things done that had been going around in my mind overnight. Not such a "sleepy life" last night. D had the opposite - I heard him go to bed at 4am and his alarm went off at 9am. I think I have a healthy relationship with coffee.
I didn't even start drinking it until I was 33 - and that was only decaf after the birth of my youngest. Now I drink it every morning. Dog walk first, then coffee. On weekdays, just one (admittedly large) mug of it... Then the school run, then maybe another one ... or two ... ! I find it difficult to buy big enough mugs if I'm honest (I've somehow managed to make the mug look tiny in the photo and it's really not!). Then there's the cafetieres - small and large. And the coffee machine. And the Starbucks Via for emergencies. Probably it's a prop. Probably I should drink water instead. So this morning I accidentally put an extra sweetner in and it's not really that nice. As I write this it's still dark outside. I can see the car lights through the trees on the A road nearby. People hurrying to work, and soon I won't "stuck in traffic" I will be part of the traffic. The past 2 days the school run has taken well over an hour due to a burst water main (must check to see if that's been repaired yet)... |
