Usually I go for an evening swim on a Friday (cross training, y'know) but that's been scuppered today as my lovely husband has a gig tonight (Wham! Tribute Night of all things!), so I decided on a quick morning bike ride instead. My trusty mountain bike (Mike) is a B'Twin RockRider from Decathlon, with hydraulic brakes and everything! It was a birthday present when I started getting more into cycling and I realised that my old MB (Mavis) - that I'd bought on eBay for £30 - was actually several inches too small for me (well, I am 5' 8"). So I managed a rather slow (for me ) 9.45 miles at 12.7mph.
There was certainly a breeze picking up, and there were also some drivers determined to brush elbows with me, reminding me of why I used to confine my bike rides to 6am at weekends! But needs must, and it blew the cobwebs away. I think that Mike and I will be trying to get out more often from now on...watch this space!
